Alwyn Jones is a well known tourism consultant and contractor, based in Sydney, Australia,
specialising in marketing, public relations and journalism in the tourism, leisure, travel,
events and sponsorship industries, with a particular emphasis on providing innovative

John was formerly Director Industry Strategy and Development with Tourism New South Wales, which gave him a comprehensive insight into government and private sector relationships in Australia, including compliance with government and legislative and environmental requirements. He was also responsible for the Major Events Programme, the Flagship Events Programme and the Regional Events Programme in Sydney and New South Wales, recognised as the home of the 2000 Olympics and the 2003 Rugby World Cup in which John took an active role including organising a major concert at the Sydney Opera House for BBC TV UK.
John has worked at a senior level in consulting as Senior Manager with Ernst & Young and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and as Associate Director with KPMG, with responsibility for KPMG's tourism, leisure, travel, transportation and hospitality consulting business in Sydney, prior to establishing his own consulting business.
Before moving into consultancy, he had more than 20 years of wide-ranging experience in the UK, heading up Public Relations and Public Affairs for The National Trust in Wales, as the founding Wales Marketing Director for the British Tourist Authority/Wales Tourist Board in the USA and in Australia as Marketing Manager Britain for the British Tourist Authority.
John also possesses extensive PR and media experience, with an innovative, highly productive and successful approach, relishing the opportunity of working with publishing orientated clients, having been responsible for a wide range of book launches and other related launch and other PR activity over a number of years.
John is also an accredited journalist and broadcaster, a member of the Australian Journalists Association and the Media Entertainments and Arts Alliance, a regular contributor to a range of magazines and other publications in Australia and elsewhere and is also a recognised public speaker and conference presenter.
