Duane C Fast

Duane FastDuane is a cultural and natural heritage interpretation specialist with extensive experience in the US, Canadian and Chinese markets. He shares his time between his two offices in Beijing and Vancouver.

Duane currently serves on the board of directors of the US National Association for Interpretation and is also the Director of International Affairs. In addition, he is an Executive Board Member at the IGU Commission on UNESCO Geoparks; President of the Themed Attraction Association Canada; and a Professional Member of the Society of Environmental Graphic Designers.

Duane was recently a key figure in a team from the federal government of China that studied the Dong and Miao minority groups in Guizhou, China. This culminated in a proposal being submitted to the World Bank for funding to create sustainable regional development and tourism with the aim to counter endemic poverty and the loss of their unique culture and language. This proposal was recently accepted by the World Bank, funds were matched by the Chinese government and implementation of the plans is proceeding successfully.
