Carolyn George

Prior to joining TEAM, Carolyn was a senior consultant for an environmental consultancy advising public and private sector clients on a range of topics. During the past eight years, her work has focused on assessing the economic, social and environmental impacts of polices and projects for European institutions, UK government departments and agencies, and regional and local organisations.

Within Europe, this work has included an assessment of the impacts of the European Commission's communication on sustainable tourism and the provision of advice on accessible tourism for disabled people.

Carolyn has also valued the impacts of tourism-related decisions, including the financial costs of providing access around the English coast (for Natural England) and the social and economic costs of designating and de-designating bathing waters in the North West of England.

Further work on sustainable tourism has been undertaken by Carolyn at a local level, having considered the role of tourism in the future management of the Somerset Levels and Moors, assessed the feasibility and social, economic and environmental impacts of creating a new broad in Norfolk, and having prepared a feasibility assessment and business plan for a sustainable canoe/camping holiday in the Norfolk Broads.

Carolyn is very experienced in research design and management, questionnaire design and analysis, stakeholder consultation, data analysis and report writing. She has a BSc (Hons) in Geography (Human and Physical) and an MSc in Environmental Management. Carolyn is an Associate of the Institute for Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and she is currently working towards Chartered Environmentalist status.
