Roger is a leading international expert on tourism destination management and marketing.
Following many years working at CEO level for destination management and marketing
organisations (DMOs), he established TEAM Tourism Consulting in 1997.

Graham Barrow Associate
Graham provides TEAM with specialist experience in heritage and countryside management
and development and in related community involvement matters. He moved into consultancy
after a period of some 13 years as a Director of the national Centre for Environmental
Interpretation (CEI) at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Maggie Bowen Associate
Throughout her 15 years in travel and tourism management, Maggie has worked closely with
DMOs throughout the world, developing and implementing business and marketing plans in a
wide range of destination environments and cultures. Her work focuses increasingly upon
the global potential of new distribution channels and their particular relevance to DMOs
and their constituent SMEs. Maggie is responsible for the development of TEAM business in
Ireland.
Lynne Burton Associate
Lynne is a leading consultant and project manager over 30 years extensive experience of
marketing planning and development, direct marketing and promotion. She has also worked
on numerous audits and feasibility studies and designed and managed many research projects.
Abigail Carney Associate
Abigail Carney specialises in the development of visitors and audiences for arts, heritage
and culture. She works with agencies, councils and organisations reviewing and developing
business cultural programmes, marketing and communications. She is also a facilitator and
mentor.
Lesley Chapman Associate
With 13 years in ICT programme and project management, Lesley's main expertise is in translating
tourism strategy to on-the-ground progress. With strong customer-facing skills Lesley also has
the ability to manage complex relationships: with the client or multiple clients and with single
or multiple suppliers.
Gaëlle Connolly Associate
Gaëlle is TEAM's researcher and has worked on a variety of UK and international
projects. She also updates a number of websites maintained by TEAM.
Philip Cooke Associate
Philip is a tourism and regeneration marketing specialist with a wide experience across the tourism
and economic development sectors. He has also worked at a senior level for the Sports Council and
in the commercial leisure sector.
Carmel Dennis Associate
Carmel Dennis has worked in travel and tourism for 20 years at a variety of levels. In recent years,
she has undertaken a variety of consultancy projects. Carmel has particular expertise in the field of
conferences and business travel, visitor information services and marketing.
Alyson Dombey Associate
Alyson is a leading consultant in e-commerce and travel distribution in Europe. She has worked on
the commercial side of online travel since 1994, specialising in strategic development, e-commerce /
channel management and managing organisational change.
Jackie Ellis Associate
Jackie Ellis became a TEAM associate in 2006 after having gained over 20 years of front line tourism
experience working in both the public and private sectors. As a local government Destination Manager,
her prime focus was on marketing, sustainable rural development and cultural tourism and she is a well
known champion of national quality standards.
Dr Mike Fabricius Associate
Dr Mike Fabricius is an experienced tourism manager, strategist, planner and project implementer who
has during the past 15 years held senior management positions in government, semi-government, business
and academic sectors.
Sue Garland Associate
Sue has more than 30 years experience working in the tourism destination business. Until 2004, she was
Deputy Chief Executive of the British Tourist Authority, following which she moved into consultancy.
Sarah Grout Associate
Sarah has rich experience as a destination practitioner, with hands-on experience in visitor services and
destination marketing. She has a special interest in tourism policy and strategy and in developing multi-agency
approaches to tourism service delivery.
Mike Imrie Associate
Mike spent the last 6 years delivering interactive marketing solutions and is specialised in the delivery
of specific business benefits via integrated interactive communications (customer acquisition techniques,
website strategy, customer retention and development through e-CRM).
Mady Keup Associate
Mady specialises in destination and business tourism marketing and has extensive international management
experience gained with the British Tourist Authority (now Visit Britain) and Visit London. Mady speaks 6
European languages fluently.
David MacIntyre Associate
A graduate in Economics from St Andrews University, David has an excellent range of public and private sector
experience, with key skills being as follows: Tourism Strategy; Business Development; Marketing; Design &
Management of Tourism Organisational Structures; Research & Analysis; Workshop Facilitation and Project Feasibility.
Nick Markson Associate
Based in Brussels since 1997, Nick is TEAM's EU expert. Working with the British Tourist Authority, he
advised many sectors of the British tourism industry in their dealings with the European institutions.
He also founded and organised the European Travel Commission's New Media Group of national tourist office
specialists in new media marketing.
Karin Nijhuis Associate
Karin specialises in online branding and marketing and has extensive experience in assisting organisations and
companies in developing and optimising their web activities and e-business. Karin is responsible for the
development of TEAM business in The Netherlands.
Sarah Osborne Associate
For 9 years, Sarah was Tourism Manager for Windsor, UK - a destination with >7million visitors per year,
11,000 tourism jobs and an annual total visitor spend of over US$700million. Since then, she has
consulted on all aspects of destinations at international, national, regional and provincial levels. Sarah
has a Diploma in Management from Henley Management College and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of
Marketing. Now based partly in Asia-Pacific (Singapore) and partly in the UK, Sarah is extending her experiences
to bring international best practice to international clients.
John Pritchard Associate
John has extensive (30 years) tourism industry marketing and project management experience. John has expert
knowledge in researching and preparing detailed analyses of the European, North and South American, the Gulf
and Australasian source travel markets. He has broad experience of market research & planning, market re-positioning,
tourism product audits, destination management strategies, stand-alone and integrated overseas tourism offices and
destination marketing organisations.
Howard Smith Associate
Howard's core expertise is helping DMOs re-engineer their business processes, apply e-business techniques and
manage the organisational change process. Before joining TEAM, Howard worked in business development for 12 years.
Richard Smith Associate
Richard's recent project experience has covered a range of disciplines including specialist tourism research
planning and implementation strategy development, and visitor information provision. Prior to joining TEAM, Richard
had more than 10 years experience in destination tourism.
Davina Stanford Associate
Davina is an experienced tourism researcher with a first class undergraduate degree, an MA with distinction in Tourism,
and a PhD in Tourism Management. She has researched a range of topics from visitor management and visitor behaviour to
destination marketing and management, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods.
David Swarbrick Associate
David worked in tourism for 23 years and has extensive experience working for tourism organisations. Over the past
4 years as a consultant, he has worked on a variety of projects including feasibility studies, business analysis
and planning, market analysis and planning, business change implementation and the identification of commercial
opportunities. Since 2001, David has become involved in Management and Development of Golf Club and Courses.
Thomas Thiollier Associate
Thomas specialises in e-marketing for the tourism industry at strategic and operational levels. Prior to consulting,
Thomas held senior positions within the UK and overseas including France and Germany.
Peter Varlow Associate
Peter moved into consultancy in 2005 after eight years' marketing experience at VisitBritain and the British Tourist
Authority, six of those years in charge of the development of the award winning Web site, www.visitbritain.com.
He has hands-on experience in all aspects of conventional and online marketing, and key areas of customer care -
customer contact standards; systems that support the CRM process; online and walk-in services; and 'Star' quality
rating services.

John has extensive experience providing consultancy to the international fairs, exhibitions and events industry and
to the heritage tourism sector, undertaking many assignments in the Middle East and Asia. This experience has been

Sue is a New Zealander now living in London and Croatia. She offers significant international tourism experience,
strategic and practical, for Governments, business, NGO's or local communities, across destination making, managing
visitor economies, branding and marketing, and education and training programmes.
